How Lumbyte pricing works
One plan, every feature, billed per student per term.
There is one plan with every feature included: ₦10,000 per student, per term. Optional add-ons are billed separately. See the pricing page.
How terms and payments line up
One payment covers one school term. Here is when you are reminded and when the portal pauses.
A payment buys one school term for your students, using your school's own term dates. It is not "90 days from today". Your access runs to the end of the term you paid for.
What you pay
- Paying before a term starts (or when it has only just begun): the full ₦10,000 per student.
- Joining or paying part-way through a term: only the days left in that term, never less than a quarter of a term. Every following term is the full price.
- The first payment when you register covers the term you are in, or the next one if you sign up in the holidays. The amount is shown before you pay.
During the year
- About two weeks before your paid term ends: you get an email and a notice in the portal, and a banner appears on the admin pages. Everything keeps working.
- After the term ends: you get another reminder. Everything still works while you are on holiday, so you can finish results and report cards.
- Three days before the pause: a final warning.
- One week before the next term starts (during the holidays): if the next term is not paid for, the portal pauses for everyone at the school, including teachers, parents and students. The administrator can still open Plan and billing to pay. Your data is safe.
- The moment you pay: the portal opens again. Paying early is fine. You can pay for the next term from 60 days before your current one ends.
The reminders and the pause both follow the dates on your Academic Calendar. If you are missing next term's dates, Lumbyte adds the standard ones. Pushing a date far into the future will not delay the pause: it never comes later than 60 days after your paid term ends.
Students
Every student needs a paid place before you can enrol them, and bringing a suspended, withdrawn or graduated student back also needs one. See Paying for students before you enrol them. A school that has registered but not paid cannot add students, teachers or classes, and nothing in the portal is available until the first term is paid for.
Paying for students before you enrol them
A paid place (a seat) is needed for every student.
You pay for students before they are enrolled. Each paid place covers one student for the term.
- When you add or import students and have no free places, Lumbyte shows how many more you need and takes you to pay.
- Pay online. The places are added as soon as the payment is confirmed.
- Go back and enrol. Your next term's bill automatically includes every student who is enrolled by then.
The same applies when you bring a suspended, withdrawn or graduated student back into a class. They use a free place again.
Settings → Plan & Billing always shows your places used, places free and the next payment date. A place bought part-way through a term costs only the days left in it.
Renewing for the next term, and what happens if you do not
Reminders, the pause, and the safety of your data.
- About two weeks before your paid term ends, you are emailed and the admin dashboard shows when the next payment is due.
- After the term ends you get a reminder and see a notice on every admin page to subscribe for the next term. Everything still works.
- If next term has not been paid for about a week before it starts, the portal pauses for everyone and asks the school to subscribe.
- The pause always follows your Academic Calendar. If next term's dates are missing, Lumbyte adds the standard ones.
Nothing is ever deleted when the portal pauses. Pay, and everything is back within moments, exactly as you left it. The school administrator can always open Plan & Billing to pay.
After you pay
What you see when you come back from the payment page.
When you finish paying for a term, extra students or an add-on, you are brought back to a confirmation page.
- Payment received: your plan or add-on is active. Choose Back to plan and billing.
- Confirming your payment: the bank has not confirmed yet. Your plan switches on by itself within a few minutes. Do not pay again.
- Payment failed: you were not charged for that attempt. Go back and try again.
Settings → Plan & Billing shows whether your term is active, the date it runs to, how many students are paid for and how many are enrolled now. If more students are enrolled than you have paid for, it offers a pro-rated top-up.
API & Integrations (add-on)
Your school's API key, and what is built today.
Payments, SMS and email are provided by Lumbyte for every school. You do not need to connect a payment or SMS account yourself.
The API & Integrations add-on lets you create a secret API key for your school under Settings → Integrations. You can copy it and make a new one at any time. Making a new key stops the old one working.
The public API that accepts this key is still being rolled out, so no outside system can use it yet. Treat the key like a password. See the
roadmap.
Add-ons
Optional extras, paid per school per term.
Add-ons are extra modules you can switch on for your school. Open Settings → Plan & Billing → Add-ons to see what is on sale and its price.
- Active: it shows in your menu and opens normally. Its expiry date is shown.
- Expired: it stays in the menu with a lock and a renew message. Your data is kept.
- Not bought: it shows a lock with an activate button.
Add-ons planned or in development include HRM & Payroll, Virtual Classrooms, API & Integrations, Online Exams & Quizzes, an Online Admission Portal, Bus Tracking and a Branded Mobile App. Availability is shown inside the portal, and the roadmap lists what is coming.
